Can I

Can I be open, defenses down? Will you prescribe some medication and send me away? Or will you chastise me for what I've neglected, before you shoot me down? If you see the truth, will you understand? Or will you remember it later, to gain the upper hand? Tell me it's because of sin, tell me that prayer is the place to begin. Then walk away, again. (Isn't that the standard prescription?)

I cry out to God, but he's already spoken. Can I pay the price, for 100% devotion. Will I lose my wife, will I lose my life? - fears of mine, rarely uttered, rarely opened.

To Her: I cried when I heard what your mother said to you. Pointed words as such should never be spoken from a mother to a child. Rationalization came in the door and I heard, "THAT is why I am the way that I am."

But Christ has also entered the door. Will you dwell on Him, yourself or your mother? Three persons demanding your attention. Only one will love you despite your condition.

For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows.

P.P., my kids and I listened to Dr. King's speech today. We were all floored by the power of the dream of this man - especially when we looked around the room and saw that we were all different colors, together. Then I got to thinking - when he made that speech (declaration of faith) I'm sure he was flooded with so much uncertainty in his heart. Certainty has never been part of the formula, but believing is - especially on the One who's heart may not always be safe, but always good.

(I was so tempted to speak what was on my mind by I chose to speak from my heart instead. Pardon if it doesn't make sense as is the case most of the time.)

Luke 6:43 -
The good person out of the good treasury of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasury produces evil, for his mouth speaks from what fills his heart.
